Hot Stone Massage

Abu Dhabi — Le Pavot Spa

Sheraton Hotel - Al Zahiyah - Abu Dhabi

What Is Hot Stone Massage?

Hot stone massage uses smooth volcanic basalt stones, heated to the precise temperature required to penetrate deep into muscle tissue. The stones are placed along key energy points of the body and used as an extension of the therapist's hands — gliding across the muscles with long, warming strokes that reach layers of tension no amount of manual pressure alone can access.
Heat relaxes muscle fibres from the inside out. Within the first few minutes of a hot stone session, the body begins to release a quality of tension that typically takes a full Swedish massage to achieve. The stones essentially pre-work the tissue, allowing the therapist to achieve deeper release with less pressure — making hot stone massage one of the most effective treatments for clients who want profound muscular relief in a genuinely luxurious format.

What to Expect During a Hot Stone Session

Your therapist begins by assessing the temperature of each stone — precision matters here, and poorly heated or unsuitably shaped stones are a common shortcoming in standard spa settings. At Le Pavot Spa, we use proper volcanic basalt stones, heated to therapeutic temperature, and applied with full technique.
The session combines placement (stones resting on specific areas while the therapist works elsewhere) and active strokes (stones used as massage tools with oil). The heat moves steadily through the tissue, softening deep adhesions that have accumulated from posture, stress, or physical demand. Clients often describe the experience as the most deeply relaxed they have ever felt.

Who Benefits Most from Hot Stone Massage?

Hot stone massage is particularly beneficial for:
  • Clients with chronic muscle tension that hasn't responded fully to standard massage
  • Those who prefer intense warmth and find it easier to relax under heat
  • Individuals managing stress-related physical symptoms (tight shoulders, jaw tension, lower back stiffness)
  • Anyone who wants the deepest possible relaxation without aggressive pressure
  • Guests visiting in cooler months who want the grounding effect of heat therapy

I visited this wonderful place to warm up in the Moroccan hammam and get a sports massage after the trainings. Virginia gave me the deep massage, she really worked my muscles, and I really enjoyed it. The Moroccan hammam and scrub were given by a woman who introduced herself as Bim from the Philippines. It was very professional. During my visit, I happened to catch a glimpse of Elena. The women are very beautiful. This spa is a little tricky to find, especially the entrance up the first narrow staircase in the Sheraton hotel lobby. But you will be given clear instructions from the administrator.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is hot stone massage?
A: Hot stone massage uses smooth heated volcanic basalt stones placed on the body and used as massage tools. The heat penetrates deep into muscle tissue, releasing tension more effectively than manual pressure alone. It is one of the most luxurious and deeply relaxing treatments available in professional spa settings.
Q: Are the stones too hot? Is it safe?
A: No. The stones are heated to a precise therapeutic temperature — warm enough to penetrate the muscles effectively, never hot enough to cause discomfort or burns. Your therapist monitors the temperature throughout and adjusts as needed. Communication during the session is always welcome.
Q: What are the benefits of hot stone massage?
A: Benefits include deep muscular relaxation, relief from chronic tension and stiffness, improved circulation, reduced stress hormone levels, and a profound sense of physical and mental calm. The heat also helps improve sleep quality and can ease joint stiffness.
Q: How is hot stone massage different from a regular massage?
A: In a standard massage, the therapist works with hands alone. In hot stone massage, heated volcanic basalt stones are used as an extension of the therapist's hands — the heat pre-relaxes the tissue and allows deeper release with less pressure. Many clients find it significantly more effective for deeply held tension.
Q: How long is a hot stone massage session?
A: Sessions are available in 60-minute and 90-minute formats. The 60-minute booking automatically includes +15 minutes free and a complimentary 30-minute Hammam.
Q: Who should avoid hot stone massage?
A: Hot stone massage is not recommended for individuals with conditions including diabetes, varicose veins, inflammation, recent injury, pregnancy, or blood pressure disorders. If you have any relevant medical condition, please consult your physician before booking.

A: Contact us via WhatsApp or phone (+97126970273). Le Pavot Spa is located inside Sheraton Hotel, Corniche Rd E, Al Zahiyah, Abu Dhabi. We are open daily from 10:00 to 02:00.
